Red Line riders, prepare thyselves for a crowded, delayed commute home. Trains are single tracking in two areas: between Farragut North and Dupont Circle and between Medical Center and Grosvenor stations.
The issues at each section are unrelated, according to a service advisory. A routine inspection detected defective rail fasteners around Dupont, which will take hours to repair. Near Grosvenor, Metro is working to fix a cracked rail, bringing in a crane to replace a 39-foot section.
WMATA notes that “Red Line trains may hold for extended periods of time as trains are running through single track zones in the opposite direction.”
So, yeah, good luck.
It’s never a good sign to see this during rush hour. @unsuckdcmetro @dcmetrosucks #WMATA #DupontCircle #singletracking pic.twitter.com/QtfTP40Opp
