This holiday weekend, the Humane Rescue Alliance is waiving adoption fees for all available animals.

Potential caretakers can check out about 200 animals from Elmer Fudd the dog to Spanky the turtle from Friday through Sunday.

The Humane Rescue Alliance is the new name for the merged supergroup of the Washington Humane Society and Washington Animal Rescue League. Its adoption centers are located at 71 Oglethorpe Street NW and 1201 New York Avenue NE.

Adoption fees normally range from $10 for small animals like birds up to $250 for a dog under 6 months. These expenses are being waived courtesy of the alliance’s partnership with Zappos. But D.C. dog license fees still apply and normal adoption procedures will be in place.
