For those staying in town, the Millennium Stage will host a free swing dance party on Thanksgiving. 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25

Trombonist Bobby Felder has assembled a group of the area’s finest for a big band performance at Jazz Night in Southwest. 6 to 9 p.m. $5 at the door.

Two sets of brothers, all area natives, will team up with a veteran local drummer on Friday at AMP. Peter and Will Anderson (woodwinds) will join Zach and Alex Brown (bass and piano, respectively) and Chuck Redd for an 8 p.m. set. Tickets $30-$40.

Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra will bring the classic big band elegance of the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s to the Carlyle Club. 8 p.m. Tickets $35 plus minimum and surcharge.

Smooth jazz star and keyboardist Alex Bugnon will begins a three-night stand of 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley. Tickets $30-$35 plus minimum and surcharge.

Bruce Williams is a journeyman saxophonist and respected music educator whose career began here in D.C. His credits include stints with Roy Hargrove, trombone legend Curtis Fuller, and many more. Williams will lead an ensemble on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 9 and 11 p.m. sets. Tickets $15 plus minimum and surcharge.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26

Lakota John & Kin are known for blending their ancestors’ ancient Native American harmonies with traditional blues music. They will play the Millennium Stage at 6 p.m. Free.

Vocalist Nina Casey leads a group at Mr. Henry’s. 8 to 11 p.m. Two item per person minimum.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27

Smooth jazz star Kirk Whalum presents afternoon and evening performances of his holiday program, A Gospel According to Jazz Christmas. The 5:30 and 8 p.m. sets take place at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. Tickets $59.50 plus minimum and surcharge.

Saxophonist Carl Bartlett, Jr. leads a group at Alice’s Jazz & Cultural Society. 6 to 9 p.m. $5 at the door.

Brad Linde is one of the area’s ubiquitous saxophonists, but he’ll be switching it up on Sunday, playing piano with his Therapy Band. The quartet plays classics from the standard jazz repertoire. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

Three Man Soul Machine blends soul, jazz, blues, and reggae. The trio plays a 9 p.m. set at the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. No cover.
