Metro officials are investigating how an eight-car Metrorail train decoupled this morning.
Passengers were on the train at the time, and they were unloaded safely, according to a Metro spokesperson. The incident took place around 9 a.m. near Twinbook, an above ground station on the Red Line.
After delays due to single tracking, Red Line trains have now started running their normal schedule.
Earlier this year, a Green Line train separated near Navy Yard causing confusion and a 10 to 15 minute wait for passengers.
