This weekend’s agenda includes improv based on New Year’s resolutions and Secret Santa gifts, extended museum hours, and more.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27

AIR AND SPACE: Do you want to visit a museum, but can’t get to one before 5:30 p.m.? You’re in luck. The National Air and Space Museum has extended hours this week, staying open until 7:30 p.m. through Friday. (FREE)

FRANK OCEAN: Two time Grammy winner Frank Ocean has zero chance of receiving any Grammy awards for his latest album, but that’s primarily because he didn’t submit Blonde to what he calls a dated nomination and awarding system. Listen to the critically acclaimed album as Songbyrd continues its two-week series on the best music of 2016. (Sonybyrd, downstairs, 7 p.m. FREE)

MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE: If listening parties aren’t your thing, don’t rule out Songbyrd just yet. The upstairs level will host the last CAN I KICK IT? of the year. A screening of The Chinese Connection, starring Bruce Lee, will be accompanied by a soundtrack of hip-hop, funk, soul and cinema soundbites mixed live by DJ 2-Tone Jones. (Sonybyrd, upstairs, 7 p.m. FREE)

JUDGING PLAYWRIGHTS: During Scribe Night, local playwrights will have their works cold read by professional actors, then judged by a panel of three theatre professionals. Plus, guests will vote for the audience favorite, and have the chance to play games and win free booze. (The Pinch, 7-8:30 p.m. $5)

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS: It’s never too early to start thinking about those New Year’s resolutions you’re never going to keep. In Laugh Owens Laugh’s new show, New Years Resolutions, seven comedians will be given resolutions (audience suggestions welcome), and they’ll have to explain why they’re making said improvement. (Rendezvous Lounge, 8-10 p.m. FREE)

INDIE ROCK KARAOKE: Take advantage of Bon Jovi free karaoke at DC9. The indie rock karaoke songlist will feature music by Built to Spill, Guided by Voices, The Shins, and more. (DC9, 8 p.m. FREE)

CHANCE THE RAPPER: Frank Ocean thinks the Grammy nomination and awarding system is dated, but their recent rule change that made streaming-only releases eligible for awards helped Chance the Rapper earn a total of seven nominations. Listen to the critically acclaimed, streaming-only album, Coloring Book as Songbyrd continues to highlight the best music of 2016. (Sonybyrd, 7 p.m. FREE)

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29

IMPROV: Washington Improv Theatre’s “holiday stocking,” Seasonal Disorder, is drawing to a close. If Secret Santa gifts didn’t already make you laugh by their own merit, Thursday’s line-up includes Couch Money’s “Secret Santa,” in which the cast performs scenes based on Secret Santa gifts. This should be interesting. (Source, 7:30 p.m. $12-30)

STAND-UP: Comedian, host, and travel writer Tom Rhodes shares his funniest travel tales. (DC Improv, 7:30 p.m. $20 + two item minimum, Friday performances also available)

MORE STAND-UP: At one time he was ranked the 864th best tennis player in the world, but he gave up the opportunity to earn $11,000 on tour for stand-up. Typical. Find out if Michael Kosta made the right decision when he performs at Drafthouse Comedy. (Drafthouse Comedy, 7 p.m. $20)
