Vice President-elect Mike Pence confirmed a Washington Post report that he was spotted at the Chevy Chase Safeway to purchase two half-gallon tubs of Turkey Hill ice cream on Thursday evening.

He was clad in a suit, according to the Post, which adds that “Pence shook hands with a cashier on the way out but otherwise went undisturbed. He left in a convoy of three SUVs.”

Pence said that “when Mrs. Pence asks me to pick up ice cream, I pick up ice cream.”

The Indiana governor doesn’t listen to all requests from wives, though. When Indiana resident Amy Sandler’s wife Niki was dying of ovarian cancer, for instance, Pence appealed a decision by a federal court that ordered the state to recognize the marriage on an emergency basis. “He wouldn’t allow the state to protect even one family with a dying parent—my family—while the court case made its way through the legal system,” Sandler wrote.

The vice president-elect did not note whether he took in the rainbow flags and “Trust Women” signs during his trip through Chevy Chase, where Pence is temporarily renting a home until he moves into the Naval Observatory.

He’s not the only Trump administration member seen at a Safeway. A Dupont resident snapped a photo of Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson shopping on the 17th Street location, known as the “Soviet Safeway”.
