Cranes are looming over the National Mall and nearby street vendors are stocking up on inaugural gear. Crews are constructing stages at historic sights from the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial. Thousands of port-a-potties are being placed downtown and cell phone providers have installing additional equipment to sustain service in preparation for massive crowds.

Downtown D.C. is becoming quite the scene as it gets ready for the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Among the preparations, an inauguration rehearsal on Sunday included U.S. Army Sergeant Major Greg Lowery strolling down Pennsylvania Avenue and taking a mock oath as a substitute for the president-elect. The rundown also included members of the military and others who plan to march in the Friday’s inauguration parade.

The forecast indicates it will be a rainy, cloudy day in Washington.
