The minds behind last week’s Trump-inspired Golden Showers burger are back at it. Community restaurant (7776 Norfolk Ave. Bethesda) owner Mark Bucher and local food writer Nevin Martell have concocted another gut-busting way to both poke fun at the president-elect (or depending on when you’re reading this, president) and raise money for charity.

Although it may have been tempting to revive the Golden Showers burger, the two decided to go a bit more evergreen with Trump burger 2.0.

“It being the inauguration, we thought we’d do something a little bit broader,” Martell says.

The new creation is called the “Trumpster,” and like its predecessor, it’s filled with mockery of Trump and his policies.

The burger’s golden bun gets a healthy scrape of Russian dressing, American cheese and, of course, another very small pickle (the only holdover from the previous recipe). In a nod to our Mexican neighbors, the burger is served with what Martell swears is “the most beautiful wall you’ve ever seen of totchos,” complete with queso, sour cream, guacamole, onions and jalapenos.

The burger and totchos combo costs $20, and $5 from each order will be donated to Rock the Vote. It will be available from the moment Trump is sworn in to office (around noon) through the end of the weekend. That’s a bit different than the Golden Showers special, which was available for one-day only.

The team only raised about $100 in that short time span. Still, the burger turned into a surprise hit, making news nationally and even internationally, according to Martell.

“It ended up going ridiculously viral,” he says. “I just got a Google alert that a Chinese newspaper ran a story on it.”

He and Bucher even took to Facebook live recently to read off some of the more interesting comments that the burger story elicited.
