President Donald J. Trump mentioned “American carnage” in his dark inaugural speech, so it makes sense that his first dance as president would be to a song with the words “now, the end is near.” Trump and First Lady Melania Trump danced to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”

Trump shared video of the dance via Twitter (on his personal account), using all caps, “THANK YOU for another wonderful evening in Washington, D.C. TOGETHER, we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN??”

The Daily News described the president’s dancing as “a simple back-and-forth with his wife on his arm and mouthing along with a few words.” His moves pleased the Internet, in a way:

It’s possible Vice President Pence upstaged Trump:

The Trump and Pence families joined in during one of the balls:

Here are Tweets from libtards in Hollywood:

Also, it seems that the Inaugural cake may have been heavily based on Duff Goldman’s cake for the Obamas:

The First Lady’s gown was a “vanilla crepe off-the-shoulder gown with a red silk ribbon at the waist” that “was a collaboration ‘between herself and Hervé Pierre, former creative director of Carolina Herrera,’ according to the first lady’s office,” USA Today reports. Also, she also reminds Newt Gingrich of “Sophia Lauren,” who ever she is:

Anyway, the dance reminded me of another dance that has lingered in pop culture: Elaine Benes’ “Little Kicks” dance in Seinfeld, especially because, before getting down, Elaine makes a very Trump-ian toast, “Here’s to us who wish us well, and those who don’t can go to hell.” (Fun fact: The exterior used is the Puck Building in NYC, which is owned by the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.)

Sweet Fancy Moses indeed.
