Looking to add something else to your calendar of events? D.C. yogis can get their vinyasa fix for free at the Kennedy Center this spring and summer.
The historic venue will hold classes in its Grand Foyer every other Saturday from March 4 through August 19. The sessions are part of the center’s Sound Health program that was “created to make important and sometimes surprising connections between the performing arts and mind-body wellness.”
Instructors from several local studios including Core Power, Spark, Sculpt, and East Side Yoga, among others, are on board to lead the classes.
The sessions cater to yoga students of all levels so feel free to stay in child’s pose for as long as you’d like. Each one will start at 10:15 a.m. and last an hour.
And while participants don’t need tickets, they will need to complete a sign-in form and liability waiver before every session. The events are first-come, first-served, so signing up in advance doesn’t guarantee your spot on the red carpet. And participants are also required to bring their own mats.
After the sessions, it may be worth it to cool down on the Kennedy Center’s patio, which has one of the most rewarding views in D.C.
