The eaglet known as “DC4” has hatched at the National Arboretum.

American Eagle Foundation officials noticed around 7:21 a.m. this morning that the offspring to bald eagles Mr. President and The First Lady had entered the world, according to an update on the DC Eagle Cam site.

DC4, which will get a permanent name via a public vote in coming weeks, was laid on February 19. Officials announced yesterday that it would soon hatch after noticing a small crack in its shell.

A soon-to-be eaglet dubbed “DC5,” which was laid February 23, is still incubating in the nest atop a Tulip Poplar tree at the Northwest site. The foundation’s president, Al Cecere, said yesterday that he hopes both eaglets hatch this week “and show signs of good health.”

The pair are siblings to Freedom and Liberty, which were born last year, and “DC1,” which hatched in 2015.
