D.C. police are searching for a man who crashed into police cruisers and parked cars near Benning Road NE on Sunday before fleeing from his car in Maryland.

The incident began around 4:30 p.m. when officers noticed “illegal narcotic activity” surrounding a car in the 3600 block of Blaine Street NE, according to a traffic incident report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

As police stopped the vehicle, a man driving red Ford Fusion came speeding onto the block, but stopped when he saw the officers, according to the report.

The suspect then fled the scene “and continued driving erratically,” damaging several vehicles along the way.

“What I heard was a loud boom, so when I looked outside the window, I saw an officer jumping the curb, but the car had rolled back in reverse and hit a detective car and took off back down the street,” a witness told NBC Washington.

The man eventually crashed in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to police.

WUSA 9 reports that a D.C. police cruiser and a car “appeared to suffer head-on collisions” when the Ford Fusion crashed at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway and Sheriff Road. The news outlet tweeted a video of the scene.

Police say the suspect exited the car, and ran away on foot. Three officers sustained minor injuries, and no one else was reported hurt.

Police say the man was wearing camouflage pants and a black shirt at the time of the incident, and they’re asking anyone with information regarding this case to call 202-727-9099 or text 50411.
