Free lavender t-shirts only go to the first 16,000 people who register, so better get cracking on that Bike to Work Day registration.
The annual cycling cavalcade is taking place this year on May 19th, with 86 pit stops around the region for people to check in on their way to work. In addition to the tees, riders can also pick up a free bagel, coffee, and assorted bike swag.
The annual event has grown from just a few hundred riders in 2001 to a record breaking (registered) 17,583 people last year. The idea is to expose people to the benefits of bike commuting, and they might have an easier time than ever as the city continues to invest in bike infrastructure and Metro continues to lose riders.
Bike to Work registration is available here; you can also sign up to volunteer.
