SafeTrack Surge 14 is shuttering Greenbelt and College Park stations beginning Saturday, which means passengers will have to take shuttle buses between Greenbelt and Prince George’s Plaza stations, among other Metrorail service disruptions this weekend.
The College Park station will reopen on April 30, while Greenbelt station will remain closed through the end of the surge on May 14.
And adjusting for the surge, all Yellow Line trains will run to and from Mount Vernon Square instead of Fort Totten station, so passengers will have to hop on Green Line trains to complete trips.
The Red Line will experience single tracking because of other weekend maintenance projects, and passengers can expect 8 to 15 minute wait times.
If you’re riding the Orange, Blue, and Silver Lines, there are no planned disruptions for you.
Red Line
Trains every 8-15 minutes | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday
Single tracking between Medical Center & Grosvenor to allow for rail fastener and tie renewal.
Red Line trains will operate:
- Between Shady Grove & Glenmont every 15 minutes
- Between Silver Spring & Farragut North every 8-10 minutes between 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 through close, single tracking between Dupont Circle & Van Ness to allow for preventative maintenance.
Orange Line
Regular weekend service
Sunday from 10:00 p.m. through close, trains will single track between Smithsonian and Federal Center SW to allow for ceiling tile replacement.
Silver Line
Regular weekend service
Sunday from 10:00 p.m. through close, trains will single track between Smithsonian and Federal Center SW to allow for ceiling tile replacement.
Blue Line
Regular weekend service
Sunday from 10:00 p.m. through close, trains will single track between Smithsonian and Federal Center SW to allow for ceiling tile replacement.
Yellow Line
Regular weekend service between Huntington & Mt. Vernon Square only
To accommodate SafeTrack Surge #14, all trains will operate to/from Mt. Vernon Square rather than Fort Totten. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Square should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.
Green Line

Free shuttle buses replace Green Line trains between Greenbelt & Prince George’s Plaza.
Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals (every 12-15 minutes) between Branch Avenue and Prince George’s Plaza stations.
