The National Weather Service predicts that D.C. will get three consecutive days with temperatures around 90 degrees this week.

That means we may get our first heat wave of the year, as the Capital Weather Gang points out.

Wednesday’s high will be around 91 degrees, followed by 92 on Thursday, and 88 on Friday. High humidity will accompany the heat during the three-day stretch, which will create for a “sticky” feeling outdoors, according to the CWG. But in order to officially be a heat wave, all days have to reach at least 90 degrees.

Typically, heat waves in the region happen from late June to late August—but rarely as early as May.

Friday’s forecast comes with a 30 percent chance of rain and temperatures are expected to drop about 10 degrees by Saturday.
