After less than a year of service in a Truxton Circle rowhouse, D.C.’s Anxo Cidery is opening a new production facility and bar in Brightwood Park this Saturday, right in time for the summer season.

The Anxo Cidery and Tasting Room, located at 711 Kennedy Street NW, will focus on cider production and be the only bar to sip on Anxo’s entire collaboration series products. There will also be 24 tap lines flowing with ciders, beers, red and white vermouth, and cocktails.

The kitchen menu will center around Spanish-forward bar food such as a Serrantino panini with ciabatta, serrano ham and manchego cheese; octopus salad with English peas, chickpeas, red peppers and sherry vinegar; and a selection of meats and cheeses designed to pair with Anxo’s ciders and beverages. Check out the opening menu at the end of this post.

In its short history, Anxo’s creative and funky beverages have revived cider culture in D.C. both at its bar at 300 Florida Avenue and with its bottled products, which are now sold at stores and restaurants across the city.

In a statement to media, Anxo notes it hopes to inject life into the Brightwood Park neighborhood and carve out a niche as a local hangout that’s not just for cider snobs.

“Whether you want ANXO’s newest release or you just want a cold one, the tasting room will be the spot,” said Sam Fitz, Anxo’s director of operations

Saturday’s opening will also include a couple special offerings, including the release of ANXO’s Eden Collaboration #7 ($14.99), a four-apple blend made along with Vermont’s Eden Specialty Ciders.

The bar will also be open on Memorial Day (it’s normally closed Mondays through Wednesdays) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a Catalan-style sardine grill until 4 p.m.

Anxo Cidery and Taphouse opens May 27. Hours are Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
