Rhode Island Avenue station on the Red Line will be closed for maintenance this weekend—add that to the five stations on the Orange Line that have been closed for the past week due to Metro’s SafeTrack maintenance program.
With one more surge to go, SafeTrack will finally end on June 25—the same day that fare hikes, shorter hours, and service cuts will go into effect.
To accommodate this weekend’s closures, there will be limited shuttle bus service to replace Red Line trains between NoMa-Gallaudet and Brookland stations, as well as shuttle service to replace Orange Line trains between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton.
Elsewhere on Metrorail, riders on the Blue, Silver, and Yellow Lines can expect 20 minute wait times. And Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.
On Monday—Memorial Day—Metrorail will run on a Sunday schedule from 7 a.m. until midnight. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day for the holiday, and parking will be free at all Metrorail parking facilities.
