While most of our eyes have been glued to James Comey’s testimony and Donald Trump’s Twitter feed, hundreds of District do-gooders have been campaigning online to bring in big bucks for local nonprofits and charities as part of the annual Do More 24 virtual fundraiser.

This year, there are 377 organizations serving D.C. that are signed up for the 24-hour event, as well as hundreds of others that work in Prince George’s, Arlington, Loudoun, Montgomery, and Fairfax counties.

They’ve already raised $526,350 before 2 p.m. The top five small and large organizations who get the most public contributions will get extra prize money to boot.

Last year, participating nonprofits collectively raised more than $1.55 million for things like supporting homeless children, rescuing animals, planting trees, and more.

The campaign continues through 11:59 p.m.
