After serving three months in jail, an ex-Fairfax mayor who was arrested in a sex-for-drugs sting, is being released on probation, The Washington Post reports.

Police arrested Richard “Scott” Silverthorne in August after he gave meth to an undercover officer at a hotel in Tysons Corner.

He resigned less than a week later and asked people to pray for him, saying this his “faith in God and myself will get me through the biggest challenge of my life.”

He pleaded guilty in March to one felony count of distributing methamphetamine, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. He’s been in Fairfax County Jail since then.

Fairfax Circuit Court Judge Grace Carroll sentenced him to five years, but suspended all except the three months he’s already served. He’ll also be on probation for three years and complete 200 hours of community service.

The judge said that if he violates probation, she wouldn’t hesitate to put him back in jail, according to The Post.
