It seems that Washingtonians may be justified in ditching work and grabbing beer during the James Comey hearing.

A report by Project:Time Off shows that D.C. has the most under-vacationed workers compared to employees in 30 of the largest cities across the country.

Data for the report titled Under-Vacationed America: An Analysis of the States and Cities That Need to Take a Day was taken from 7,331 American workers who receive paid time off. They were surveyed in January and February of this year.

The results showed that 64 percent of D.C. workers collectively have more than 17 million unused vacation days.

San Francisco came in second with 64 percent of workers having not used 12 million vacation days. And at 62 percent, Los Angeles had the third largest portion of workers who have vacation days on the table, totaling more than 32 million.

The national average of workers with lingering paid time off is 54 percent, and they’re holding onto 662 million vacation days, according to the report.

Respondents said that some reasons that they don’t take time off include having a mountain of work to deal with, fearing what bosses would think, and feeling that no one else can do the work if weren’t on it.

People who work in education and the federal government are most likely to leave vacation time unused, and those who work in government are more likely to have vacation policies that allow them to roll over their days to the following year.

The report also ranked cities where employees take the most vacation days off, with Baltimore coming in second.
