Take note: there will be three Metro station closures this weekend.
Shady Grove and Rockville, which are shut down for SafeTrack’s final surge. Elsewhere on the Red Line, trains will run on regular weekend intervals—every 12 to 15 minutes.
On Saturday, the Crystal City station will be closed for maintenance.
Blue Line train service will alsod be disrupted on Sunday due to an emergency drill at the Pentagon—trains will bypass the station until about 2 p.m.
Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green Line trains will operate every 15 to 20 minutes this weekend.
Meanwhile, Metro’s new fares, system hours, and schedules take effect on Sunday. Most fares will increase by about $0.10 to $0.25. Metrorail riders will have extended time, until 1 a.m., to catch trains on Friday and Saturday nights, but the system will close earlier (at 11:30 p.m.) on weeknights. Going forward, trains will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Red Line
SafeTrack Surge #16 | Line segment shutdown between Shady Grove and Twinbrook through June 25
Free shuttle buses replace Red Line trains between Shady Grove & Twinbrook.
Red Line trains will operate regular weekend intervals (every 12-15 minutes) between Twinbrook and Glenmont with additional trains between Grosvenor and Silver Spring 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Shady Grove and Rockville stations are closed. Customers who normally use Shady Grove or Rockville are encouraged to consider starting their trip at Twinbrook, White Flint, Glenmont or Wheaton during the surge.
7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday, trains will single track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen to allow for leak mitigation and rail and fastener renewal. This work is not expected to cause additional delays.
Orange Line
Trains every 15-20 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday
Saturday: Trains will operate every 15 minutes to coordinate with maintenance on the Blue Line.
Sunday: Trains will operate every 20 minutes until approximately 2:00 p.m. to coordinate with the emergency drill on the Blue Line. From 2:00 p.m. until close, trains will operate on regular weekend intervals.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, trains will single track between Foggy Bottom and Smithsonian to allow for communication cable installation along tunnel walls for cell phone coverage. This is not expected to cause additional delays.
Silver Line
Trains every 15-20 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday
Saturday: Trains every 15 minutes to coordinate with maintenance on the Blue Line.
Sunday: Trains every 20 minutes until approximately 2:00 p.m. to coordinate with the emergency drill on the Blue Line. From 2:00 p.m. until close, trains will operate on regular weekend intervals.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 p.m. until closing, Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only to coordinate with work on the Orange and Blue lines. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange Line trains on the same platform.
Blue Line
Trains every 15-20 minutes | 10:00 p.m. Friday until closing Sunday
Saturday: Free shuttle buses replace trains between Pentagon City, Crystal City and National Airport to allow for ceiling tile replacement. Crystal City station will be closed. Customers should add an extra 10 minutes travel time for each station stop.
Last train times: To allow for shuttle bus connections, the last Blue Line train will depart Franconia-Springfield at 11:02 p.m. (27 minutes earlier than normal) and Largo Town Center at 11:24 (no change)
Sunday: Single tracking between Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon City to allow for a full-scale emergency drill at the Pentagon. There will be no service at the Pentagon and the Pentagon Transit Center will be closed. Blue Line trains will bypass the station until approximately 2:00 p.m. Trains will operate every 20 minutes during the drill and regular weekend intervals after.

Yellow Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Pentagon City and Fort Totten and regular weekend intervals between Huntington and National Airport.
Sunday: Single tracking between Pentagon City and L’Enfant Plaza to allow for a full scale emergency drill at the Pentagon. There will be no service at the Pentagon and the Pentagon Transit Center will be closed. Yellow Line trains will bypass the station until approximately 2:00 p.m. Trains will operate every 20 minutes between Huntington and Mt Vernon Sq during the drill. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Square should use a Green Line train to complete their trip. After the drill, trains will operate regular weekend intervals between Huntington and Fort Totten.
Green Line
Trains every 15 minutes | 7:00 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday.
Trains will operate every 15 minutes to coordinate with service on other lines.
