WEDNESDAY, JULY 5

Saxophonist Ron Pender leads a group at Alice’s Jazz & Cultural Society. 6 to 9 p.m. $10 at the door.

Area saxophonist Tissa Khosla, who performs regularly with pianist Marcus Roberts, leads a group through 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

THURSDAY, JULY 6

Andrew Latona, an area native now living in Brooklyn, plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. $10 plus minimum and surcharge.

The Feedel Band combines jazz, funk, and traditional Ethiopian music to create a truly groovy sound. They’ll play the Bossa Bistro & Lounge. 9:30 p.m. $10 at the door.

FRIDAY, JULY 7

Speakers of the House plays Jazz in the Garden. 5 to 8:30 p.m. FREE

Saxophonist Davey Yarborough is one of the area’s most respected saxophonists and music educators. His quintet features some of D.C.’s finest, and performs at Jazz Night in Southwest. Yarborough’s wife, vocalist Esther Williams, will be a special guest. 6 to 9 p.m. $5.

Rhizome hosts an evening of experimental music with Brode/Scheible/Stewart, Shouts from the Sea, and Nik Francis. 8 p.m. $10 at the door.

SATURDAY, JULY 8

Vocalist Maija Rejman plays Mr. Henry’s. 8 to 11 p.m. Two item per person minimum.

Tony Martucci has been one of the area’s first-call drummers for decades. Several years ago, he assembled a quintet, which has recorded an album called Ancestral Voices. The group celebrates the release on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 9 and 11 p.m. sets. $15 plus minimum and surcharge. Stay tuned for a full preview.

SUNDAY, JULY 9

Swedish experimental musician Jon Lipscomb is part of an afternoon bill at Rhizome. 4 p.m. $10 at the door.

Bob Murad is a respected pianist and composer who has been performing in the area since the late 1980s. His group plays Alice’s Jazz & Cultural Society. 6 to 9 p.m. $10 at the door.

Joy Ike‘s music has drawn comparisons to that of singer-songwritersNorah Jones and Corrine Bailey Rae. However, her Nigerian roots add a twist in the form of a percussive piano style. Her trio performs at Bossa. 7 p.m. $10 at the door.

Saxophonist Bobby Muncy recently celebrated the release of Kung Fu Bastard, an eclectic recording full of surprises. The quartet behind the album performs an 8 p.m. set at Villain & Saint. $10.

Sarah Hughes is originally from the DMV and was working her way up through the ranks before leaving to pursue graduate studies at the prestigious New England Conservatory. She returned to D.C. after graduating in 2015 and picked up right where she left off, performing regularly throughout the area. She leads her own group through 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Twins Jazz. $10 plus minimum and surcharge. This will actually be her second performance of the week, as she is also playing Jazz On Jackson Place on Thursday. 6:30 p.m. $30.

MONDAY, JULY 10

Guitarist Robert Mwamba plays music that draws equally from traditional jazz and his Zambian roots. He celebrates the release of his new album, Coastin’, with 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley. $20 plus minimum and surcharge.

TUESDAY, JULY 11

Saxophonist Tedd Baker leads a trio at Jojo’s. 7:30 to 11 p.m. FREE

Violinist Lila Hood plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley. $20 plus minimum and surcharge.
