Metro Transit Police released an image of three persons of interest in connection with a shooting Sunday on a Red Line train. A fourth person, Jermaine Brown, has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
One suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Sunday that injured a 14-year-old aboard a Red Line train near the Takoma Park Metro station.
Jermaine Brown, an 18-year-old from Seat Pleasant, Md., was riding with his half-brother before Brown was involved in an altercation with three suspects who have not been identified. At one point, Brown fired a gun multiple times, one of which inadvertently hit his brother, according to an account from Metro Transit Police. Two other bullets hit the railcar.
The victim was shot in the stomach, and he remains in stable condition today.
The altercation was recorded by digital video cameras that were installed on the train, Metro said. Investigators determined that the shooting took place in Maryland, right before the train crossed the border into the District.
Brown has been charged one count of first-degree assault in Montgomery County.
Transit Police released images of the three other suspects, who got off at Takoma and boarded a train going the other way before exiting the system at Silver Spring.
