Two people were taken into custody after a notebook and sign were thrown over the White House’s north fence this morning, according to the U.S. Secret Service. One male suspect was arrested and taken into D.C. Police custody.

Both items were deemed non-hazardous.

Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park are currently closed to pedestrians.

After a slew of fence jumpers, including a man who made it inside the building and to the East Room in 2014, the White House developed plans for a more comprehensive security plan, including new gates and a taller fence. The National Capital Planning Commission approved final designs in February and construction is slated to start in 2018.
