The Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company presents its 14th annual Fall Festival of South Asian Arts at the Atlas from Thursday through Sunday. MilkBoy Arthouse is a creative venture between MilkBoy Philadelphia and The Clarice. The venue hosts the Jaimeo Brown Transcendence—the drummer’s blend of jazz, electronic music, and hip-hop—with 7 and 9 p.m. sets. $10-$30.
Brasil Guitar Duo is the classical/world music collaboration of guitarists João Luiz and Douglas Lora. They draw from the classical repertoire but also include traditional Brazilian dance like choro, samba, maxixe, and baião. The duo plays the Mansion at Strathmore. 7:30 p.m. $30.
Rachelle Ferrell is as dynamic a vocalist as you will find anywhere, and she is capable of holding her own in any style. Ferrell comes to Blues Alley on Thursday to begin a four night run of 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $65-$70 plus minimum and surcharge.

Operatic superstar Renée Fleming currently serves as the Kennedy Center‘s Artistic Advisor At-Large, curating a vocal series for the venue. She teams up with jazz bassist Christian McBride in the newly renovated and re-opened Terrace Theater for 7 and 9 p.m. sets. $69-$79.
Trombonist Shannon Gunn is putting out a new album and plays a couple release events this weekend, including a free 8 p.m. show at the Fairfax Old Town Hall. Stay tuned for a full preview later this week.

Lee Konitz first came to the public’s attention as a member of Miles Davis’ groundbreaking Birth Of The Cool ensemble. Sixty years later, the NEA Jazz Master is still going strong and he comes to the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater to celebrate his 90th birthday by playing material from his delightful 2017 release, Frescalalto. 7 and 9 p.m. sets. $25-$39.

The much-loved Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra begins a monthly residency at MilkBoy ArtHouse with a performance featuring Ken Schaphorst, the Director of Jazz Studies at the renowned New England Conservatory. 8 p.m. $15.

In a town known for its bass players, Michael Bowie is one of the best D.C. has to offer. His latest project, MBowie & The Blast takes well-known songs and reconstructs them with a contemporary jazz sensibility. The band plays 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley. $25 plus minimum and surcharge.
