Looking for a city escape/cycling adventure this weekend? The Maryland Transit Administration is running bike cars on the MARC Brunswick line, which stretches out to Harper’s Ferry.

In other words, it’s a chance to ride just one way of the C&O Canal, or to toodle around the trails out in West Virginia and avoid cycling the 60-ish mile journey out to Harper’s Ferry entirely.

Two trains outfitted with bike cars will leave on Friday evening and another two will return early Monday morning (for those who want to come back sooner by train, Amtrak allows bikes for an additional fee, but the space must be reserved in advance).

MARC has also been offering weekend bike car service to Baltimore since 2014, and plans are in the works to add racks to all three weekday commuter lines by the spring of 2018 (some of them have already been spotted in the wild).

In the meantime, here’s the schedule for this weekend, which a spokesman said is just a one-time thing for now:

From Washington D.C., to West Virginia on October 27:

  • Train 875 (Departing Union Station at 4:25 p.m. and arriving at Point of Rocks at 5:39 p.m., Brunswick at 5:52 p.m., and Harpers Ferry at 6:05 p.m.)
  • Train 879 (Departing Union Station at 5:40 p.m. and arriving at Point of Rocks at 6:52 p.m., Brunswick at 7:05 p.m., and Harpers Ferry at 7:18 p.m.)

From West Virginia to Washington, D.C. on October 30:

  • Train 874 (Departing Harpers Ferry at 5:50 a.m., Brunswick at 6:05 a.m., and Point of Rocks at 6:15 a.m. and arriving at Union Station at 7:35 a.m.)
  • Train 878 (Departing Harpers Ferry at 6:50 a.m., Brunswick at 7:05 a.m., and Point of Rocks at 7:15 a.m. and arriving at Union Station at 8:32 a.m.)
