Weekend revelers: build some extra time into your plans if you’re planning to take the Orange, Silver, and Blue lines this weekend, and take note that the Silver and Yellow lines are only serving some stations.

Trains on the Orange, Silver, and Blue lines will be traveling 24 minutes apart this weekend, with Silver line trains operating only between Wiehle-Reston and Ballston. Blue Line trains will also be single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery, and Orange line trains will be single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon, both to accommodate for the installation of cables and communication equipment (a continuation of efforts to make tunnels cellphone-friendly for bored or working passengers).

If you’re traveling Green, Yellow or Red, you can look forward to slightly more reasonable 15 minute periods between trains. The Yellow Line, however, is traveling from Huntington to Mount Vernon Square only to accommodate some work on the Green line, which is getting some fasteners and rails replaced.

Red Line

Trains every 15 minutes

Single tracking between Takoma and Silver Spring to allow for rail maintenance and track bed cleaning.

Orange Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon to allow installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

Silver Line

Trains every 24 minutes Wiehle-Reston East to Ballston only

Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only to accommodate work on the Blue & Orange lines. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.

Blue Line

Trains every 24 minutes

Single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

Yellow Line

Trains every 15 minutes Huntington to Mt Vernon Sq only

Yellow Line trains will operate between Huntington and Mt Vernon Sq only to accommodate work on the Green Line. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt Vernon Sq should use the Green Line to complete their trip.

Green Line

Trains every 15 minutes

Single tracking between Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza to allow for joint elimination, fastener and rail replacement.
