This week’s food events includes plenty of happenings that have nothing to do with the Fourth of July. The list include two must-dos for rosé wine fans (including half-priced bottles) and a taste of Korean food via Baltimore. Read on for our full picks.

Half-priced rosé bottles

Swing by Roofers Union (2446 18th St. NW) on Wednesday for its 3rd annual War of the Rosés. The event will span all three floors of the Adams Morgan bar and include half-priced bottles of rosés from both Old World (France, Spain, etc) and New World (America, South Africa) regions. Wines will also be available by the glass. The event runs from 5 p.m. until close.

Last call for a Korean pop-up

Baltimore-based Haenyo is hosting the last three days of its June pop up at Big Bear Cafe (1700 1st St. NW). The Korean concept is a partnership between two alumni of Baltimore’s Woodberry Kitchen. Wednesday and Thursday will feature an a la carte menu of dishes like beef tartare ($14), steamed dumplings ($11) bossam pork wraps ($13), and more. The Friday finale will be an all-you-can-eat buffet for $25 per person and is limited to the first 80 people. Hours are 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Tastes like (homemade) chicken

Home chefs can beef up their knife skills with a chicken butchering and cooking demo at Tastemakers (2800 10th St. NE) this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The class will provide instructions on breaking down a whole chicken and preparing two dishes: spicy Parmesan chicken and chicken with apples and sage. The $75 fee includes an amuse bouche, dinner, and a beer or wine.

Rosé Saturday at The Yards

Temperatures are expected to hit the high 90-degree mark this weekend, so cool off with the Rosé All Day festival at Yards Park (355 Water St. SE) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10, which includes your first glass of rosé. There will also be live music, multiple outdoor bars stocked with rosé for purchase, and lots of areas to sip and snap photos.

Pisco Mondays all July

Service Bar (926 U St. NW) is teaming up with the Peruvian Brothers food truck for the month of July. Each Monday, the U Street bar will feature drinks made with pisco, a Peruvian grape spirit. Come prepared for cocktails ($12 each) like the Chiquita Chilcano, made with banana, ginger beer, lime, Peruvian bitters, Moscatel and Acholado Pisco. Regional fare like chicken and pork loin sandwiches will make ideal pairings for the drinks.

Eat and drink to support immigrant families

Cork Wine Bar & Market (1805 14th St. NW) is organizing a fundraiser on Monday, July 2 to support organizations that work to reunite immigrant families. Female chefs and restaurateurs from across D.C. will provide beer, wine, cocktails, and small bites.
