The Wharf is, frankly, lousy with places to drink. There’s Cantina Bambina on the dock, Brighton for beer and wine, and Hank’s Oyster Bar for cocktails and oysters. None of those can provide quite the view that The Anthem can from its elevated balcony patio, though, and starting this weekend, you don’t even need a ticket to get access.

The Anthem will open its Marquee Bar on weekends that the venue isn’t hosting a show. The team has tested out bar hours throughout the summer, and is now making dark nights at the Marquee Bar a permanent fixture. It’ll start this weekend while The Anthem, and will resume next Saturday and Sunday. You can check the calendar to see when else The Anthem is dark.

The Marquee Bar is one of seven places to grab a drink during a show at the three-story venue, but it’s the only one with a spacious outdoor space above the building’s marquee, offering views of The Wharf’s main drag and the water. The bar will open at 5 p.m. on Fridays, 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon on Sundays. According to the team, closing times will vary depending on weather and foot traffic.

Menu items include a handful of cocktails priced at $10.50-$11.50, and a modest beer and wine list starting at $7.50. Friday happy hour will run from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., with 25 percent off all drinks.

Guests can snack on plates of cheese and crackers, hummus and pita, and shrimp ($12 each).

The Marquee Bar is open on dark days (when there is no show scheduled) on Fridays starting at 5 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m., and Sundays at noon.
