This Halloween, you could have seen witches or vampires anywhere, but our favorites were costumes that only people in the District can understand. While we were disappointed we couldn’t find anyone as G-Wiz this year in a saturation of Gritty looks, take a look at the best D.C.-centric costumes.
WMATA bus drivers and other employees
Whatever your thoughts on Metro, these are adorable.
My kids are dressed up as a Metrobus driver and an old-time DC Streetcar operator and we got on a bus this morning with three @wmata trainees and it was pretty much the best bus ride of all time. Happy Halloween! 🎃 pic.twitter.com/KT2O7yisyL

Or why not just dress up as Metro itself?
From the controversial ideas behind the commute “experience” to the now-ghostly 5000-series trains, Metro gave people plenty of ideas when it comes to embodying the transit authority. But sometimes simple is best:

Mayor Muriel Bowser
With Election Day less than a week away, one of our WAMU colleagues dressed up like Mayor Muriel Bowser.

A viral Kalorama star
Dianne Bruce became an internet sensation thanks to a popular photo of her snapped at a protest in front of Ivanka Trump’s house. Folks with lush fur coats and a nice glass of white wine could turn themselves into her for Halloween, and a few did.
Here’s another of our WAMU colleagues:

Leaf Blower Regulation Amendment Act of 2017
The biggest hit at the first annual Kids Costume Contest at Primrose this past weekend was related to legislation to ban gas-powered leaf blowers.

Glover Park Listserv
Check out these two heroes that dressed up as the Glover Park listserv. What other costume embodies an abandoned Whole Foods and a newly added Dominos and Wingos?
