Mayor Muriel Bowser won her second term in office in November, the first D.C. mayor to do so since 2002 and the first woman in the city to do it ever.
But the start of the mayor’s new term is not official without the swearing-in ceremony, when the mayor takes the oath of office for her post.
Bowser will be sworn in on January 2. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at Mount Vernon Place Northwest. It’s scheduled to end at noon, but street closures and emergency no parking zones will be in effect until 6 p.m.
There will also be an interfaith prayer service at Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church beforehand, starting at 8 a.m.
Here are the emergency no parking zones and street closures in effect from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on January 2, according to the mayor’s office.
