Right on the heels of last weekend’s winter storm, looks like we’re getting another one.

Gear up for your commute tonight: there’s a decent chance we’ll see rain and up to an inch of snow and sleet after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. We could keep seeing snow until about 5 a.m. Friday morning. The snow should be heavier northwest of the city, and lighter in Southeast, according to the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang.

In anticipation of the weather, Mayor Muriel Bowser has announced that the D.C. Snow Team began pre-treating roads on Thursday morning. The office deployed 39 trucks to salt the roads. The mayor also announced that the Department of Public Works won’t be collecting Christmas trees Thursday because of the potential for snow.

And it doesn’t end there, folks: we could get snow this weekend, too, though it’s likelier and likelier that we’ll probably just see rain. What snow we do see on Saturday (the day of the 2019 Women’s March and the Indigenous People’s March) will likely fall after 2 p.m. Suburbs to the northwest are likelier to see some snow and ice accumulation on Saturday, per CWG. We’ll continue getting rain Sunday before 11 a.m., then possibly rain, snow, and sleet between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then possibly some snow after that.

Basically: if you didn’t make plans to leave town over the long weekend, have fun hibernating indoors for two days. But a bright spot: Monday is projected to be sunny, if cold.
