Update 3/1
The Hallway Pizza guy has identified himself in a Reddit AMA session on Thursday. He is not a Capitol Hill intern, as many media headlines have dubbed him: He’s a Georgetown University student who says he woke up early to score a seat at Michael Cohen’s hearing.
“I was catching a quick break during recess to eat and just started eating in the wrong place,” he wrote on Reddit.
While Inside Edition claimed in a release to have ID’d the student, he doesn’t reveal his name on Reddit.
The pizza, he says, was “pretty damn good [not gonna lie].” He says &pizza obtained his permission to use his likeness in the marketing materials for their Hallway Pizza, and offered him “a bunch” of store credit.
As for &pizza’s pizza special, the company’s co-founder and chief executive Michael Lastoria told the Washington Post on Thursday that it would likely be over by today.
It’s not clear where Hallway Pizza guy is headed next, but he’s certainly taking advantage of his newfound fame. “I am on the hunt for summer internships however so if anyone knows anything about that let me know!!” he wrote on Reddit.

If you needed a break and some comfort food after more than seven hours of testimony from President Trump’s former lawyer and American University alum Michael Cohen, you’re not alone—but at least your chowdown wasn’t broadcast on national television.
As immortalized on Twitter by user Mike Uehlein, a live interview on CBS News also caught footage of an unidentified man scarfing down a pie from &pizza. In the shot, the man appears to have been alerted that he was noshing while on live television, because he turns to face the camera, The Office-style, in shock.

Never one to miss an opportunity to get in on the federal news of the day, &pizza was quick to announce it would offer the Hallway Pizza: a pie made with spicy tomato sauce and laden with meat, including salami, pepperoni, and Italian sausage, then topped with—wait for it—banana peppers and barbecue sauce. Who is this truly baffling combination of flavors for, you ask? &pizza writes that it’s “for meat + attention lovers.”

Indeed, the fast-casual chain has really been leaning into this unexpected brush with fame (just take a look at their Twitter page for proof). They briefly attempted to track down the as-yet unidentified Hallway Pizza enthusiast, but so far seem to have only come up with false leads. &pizza has even launched a GoFundMe campaign to “Buy the Pizza Intern More Pizza.” Already, it has raised $165 towards a $10 goal.
We also regret to inform you that &pizza has gotten into memes.
