The Economist

The Economist—yes, as in the magazine—will be giving away free coffee from a roving red cart that’s popping up all over the region now through May 18.

The magazine’s red “Grounds for Change” cart will be parked at different locations, including Union Market, City Center DC, The Wharf, and Clarendon’s Market Common. The Grounds for Change program explores the impact of food waste on our environment, and highlights ways you can recycle coffee grounds—coffee sippers at the cart will have the option of converting their used grounds into compost.

The program is based on the magazine’s 2017 article “Oil in Your Coffee” which explores using used coffee grounds to create biodiesel fuel.

At the cart, patrons can also opt to subscribe to the magazine.

Its eponymous cart rolls into these locations on the following dates:

• Thursday at the Rosslyn BID Book Festival from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Friday at the Tulip Festival, City Center from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday at the Georgetown French Market from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• May 3 at the Market Common in Clarendon from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
