D.C.’s homegrown rapper Wale has long dabbled in food criticism. (Of Arlington’s Pho 75, he said on Yelp that “The broth so good wish I could put it in a 32oz gatorade bottle and ball somewhere. Matter of fact, I’d love to load it up in a Super Soaker. Not too salty. Extra flavorful with top notes of coriander.”)
This week, his thoughts on condiments have incited a heated debate. Namely, does jelly belong on a breakfast sandwich?
I don’t know who needs to hear this , but jelly 100 percent belongs on a TurkeyBaconEggNCheese Sandwich.

After professing his love for jelly (“skrawwwburry” jelly, to be specific) on a turkey bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, a bunch of people responded with horror.
But Wale, never one to shy away from a Twitter battle, appeared to delight in the disgust he provoked in some, while clarifying where he stood on some other sauces.

He’s far from alone in his opinion. Comedian Chelsea Peretti tweeted she was “interested” in the idea, to which he responded “I just recommend things I know the people deserve. We deserve nice things who am I to withhold such a secret (that’s not so secret )”
And then, none other than José Andrés came out in favor.
I 100% support @Wale #JellyWaleSandwich https://t.co/rJzQ3HVnfQ

Clearly, he has no plans to back down.
Good afternoon to People who put jelly on they breakfast sandwiches… and no one else

Even though Wale appears to have moved on to mixology, we’ve got to know—do you think he’s right?
