Summer concert and outdoor movie season are in full swing, so there’s plenty to been seen and heard this week.
MONDAY, JUNE 3
SOUTHERN COMFORT: Author Roxana Robinson will visit Politics and Prose to talk about her new novel Dawson’s Fall. Detailing the, ahem, fall of a newspaper editor in South Carolina after the Civil War, the book draws on the experience of Robinson’s great-grandparents. (Politics and Prose, 7 p.m.-8 p.m., FREE)
DOG DAYS ARE OVER: Florence and the Machine return to D.C. along with the incredible Blood Orange for another show on their High as Hope tour. Merriweather should be a fitting venue for Florence Welch’s expansive vocals and thunderous anthems. (Merriweather Post Pavilion, 7:30 p.m., $39.50)
COURAGEOUS: Shot, directed, edited by, and starring women, the documentary Brave Girls follows a group of young women in India, each at a critical juncture in their lives. The movie will screen at Landmark E Street, and explores the difficult intersection between tradition and progress. (Landmark E Street, 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., FREE)
DON’T HASSLE ME, I’M LOCAL: L.A.’s Local Natives returns to D.C. for the first of two nights at 9:30 Club. Last time the band was in town, each night of the sold out shows featured their own unique set lists, including a pretty rad David Bowie cover. If you missed them last go around, now’s the perfect chance to catch up. (9:30 Club, 7 p.m., $36)
MORE: Live Jazz Mondays (Union District Oyster Bar, 9:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m., FREE with registration), Martinis & Magic (The Mansion on O Street, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., $40)

TUESDAY, JUNE 4
NAMASTE: Dupont Underground is hosting a silent disco yoga. Don’t worry if you don’t know your downward dog from a sun salutation, as this class is for all levels. Additionally, the space will allow participants to view art from the Stonewall 50 exhibition, perfect for Pride celebrations. Just know that it’s BYOM: Bring Your Own Mat. (Dupont Underground, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., $28)
CIDER HOUSE RULES: If you don’t know the difference between shaken and stirred, Capitol Cider House is hosting a cocktail workshop that will focus on craft cider cocktails, which will be a breezy, yet boozy, alternative to rosé as these warmer days roll on in. (Capitol Cider House, 7 p.m.-8 p.m., $25)
THWIP: Arguably one of the best superhero and animated movies of all time, Spider-Man: Enter the Spider-Verse will screen at Freedom Plaza on Tuesday. The Academy Award-winning film will be preceded by outdoor activities including a live DJ and games. (Freedom Plaza, 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m., FREE)
MORE: HIIT the Yards with Tim Williams (The Yards Park, 7 p.m.-8 p.m., FREE with registration), Nocturne’s Distiller Series: Barr Hill Gin, Tom Cat Gin & Vodka (Nocturne, 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m., $55), Harry Potter Movie Trivia (Pinstripes, 7 p.m.-9 p.m., FREE with registration)

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5
PUT IT IN THE AIR: Any dance fitness class, let alone a dance fitness class, takes some coordination, but you’ll likely need unreal skills for this week’s Beyoncé-themed dance fitness class—or at least to watch Homecoming a few dozen more times first. Hit up Yards Park on Wednesday and get ready to channel your inner Queen Bey. (Yards Park, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., FREE with registration)
LACE UP: But if dancing isn’t your thing, all Lululemon D.C. locations are participating in Global Run Day. A four mile run will start at each location and end at Gravelly Point, where there will be food (including pizza from Timber Pizza Co), field games, and more. (Various Lululemon locations, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., FREE with registration)
DIP-DYE: Japanese artists have long been masters of the art of crafting and creating with indigo. Textile artisan Roland Ricketts (who has worked with several art museums, including the Textile Museum) will give a lecture on how to dye materials with this special yarn as part of the Japanese Embassy’s lecture series. (Embassy of Japan, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., FREE with registration)
WAX ON: As part of their “Who’s Got Game?” series, NoMa’s Summer Screen will show the classic movie Karate Kid. Afterwards, you can head home and check out the Cobra Kai YouTube sequel series, which has gotten decent reviews. (First and Pierce streets NE, 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m., FREE)
MORE: Songbyrd Presents: Mir Fontane (Songbyrd Cafe, 7 p.m.-11 p.m., $15), Signature Style Floral Arrangement (Helen Olivia Flowers, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., $95), National Symphony Orchestra (The Anthem, 8 p.m., $15)

THURSDAY, JUNE 6
JAZZ IT UP: If you’d prefer your jazz in the garden to be on Thursday night instead of Friday, the National Arboretum is hosting the R&B, funk, and soul influenced group Champion Sound. There will be plenty of food and booze for sale, including cocktails from Republic Restoratives. (National Arboretum, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., FREE with registration)
HA HA: What I love about Capital Laughs’ weekly comedy show is not only that it is free, but that features local talent. Town Tavern plays host to the Thursday night show and is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. (Town Tavern, 8 p.m.-10 p.m, FREE)
SING ALONG: D.C. has plenty of places to sing karaoke, but how many of them take place poolside? Pull up a spot on the roof of the Liaison Hotel and watch people belt out all kinds of hits, or test out your own pipes onstage. (The Liaison Washington Capitol Hill, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., FREE with registration)
MORE: Songbyrd Presents: Ages and Ages (Songbyrd, 7 p.m.-11 p.m., $12), A Taste of North Capitol (NPR, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., $40), Sick of It All (Rock and Roll Hotel, 7 p.m.-11 p.m., $20)
