Nearly every Metro line is dealing with some kind of complication this weekend, so be advised if you plant to rely on the transit agency to ferry you to your weekend plans.
Thanks to switch replacement, the Takoma station on the Red Line will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, and shuttle buses will replace trains between Fort Totten, Takoma, and Silver Spring. This weekend also marks the annual Yellow Line bridge inspection, which means that if you’re traveling to any Yellow Line stations past the airport, you should use the Blue Line and then transfer at L’Enfant Plaza, per WMATA.
The Silver and Blue lines will be running regular weekend service on Saturday, but thanks to a quarterly emergency management drill on Sunday, Largo Town Center station will be closed from opening until 2 p.m. Free shuttle buses will be available during that time frame.
Blessedly, the Orange Line is running regular weekend service, and the Green Line is even running slightly faster than usual this weekend.
