A California woman was arrested outside the White House on Monday night for possessing a crossbow in front of the White House, per a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.
The Washington Post was the first to report on 49-year-old Stacy Pamela Banta’s arrest.
Just before 6 p.m. Monday night, Banta walked up to a Secret Service agent guarding the perimeter of the White House and engaged him in conversation, the report states. Banta then told the officer that she had crossbow arrows on her person, and that there was a crossbow in her car.
Officials then searched Banta’s car, where they found a loaded crossbow. Banta was arrested for possession of a destructive device and carrying a dangerous weapon, per the D.C. police report.
Loren Banta, Pamela Banta’s 72-year-old father, told the Post he didn’t know why his daughter would go to the White House. “She likes Trump,” he told the outlet. “This is totally unbelievable to me.”
