Sweet potato nachos at Vim and Victor

/ Vim and Victor

Hard to believe we’re just a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving. Until then, there’s a chance to sip spiked coffee, celebrate the World Champion Nats, check out promotions for DMV Black Restaurant Week, and more.

So. Many. Nachos

In honor of National Nacho Day on Wednesday, Vim & Victor, helmed by Spike Mendelsohn of Top Chef fame, rolls out four different styles of nachos. Mendelsohn’s latest creation, the sweet potato nachos, feature crispy sweet potato chips, roasted butternut squash, shaved brussels, pickled cranberries, and toasted pepitas layered with creamy brie cheese. There’s also the cauliflower nachos, spicy chicken nachos, and tuna poke. No sweat if you can’t get there Wednesday, because all of the nachos are also on its new all-day menu. (6805 Industrial Rd, Springfield, Va., $14-$18)

Specials for DMV Black Restaurant Week

DMV Black Restaurant Week’s in its second year and now through Sunday, participating eateries like Ben’s Chili Bowl, Calabash Tea & Café, Matchbox and SoBe Restaurant & Lounge offer either a three-course, prix-fixe menu at a special price, or discounts on food or catering orders. Founded last year by Chef Furard Tate, entrepreneur and longtime bartender Andra “AJ” Johnson, and Dr. Erinn Tucker of Georgetown University, the week brings together, celebrates, and supports black chefs, bartenders, caterers, managers, brewers, financiers, and more. “So many of our black restaurants are closing—these restaurants tell our story through food,” Tate told DCist last year. (Various locations, see full list of events and participants here)

We Finished The Fight

The Nats parade and White House visit may be over, but Shake Shack keeps the World Series afterglow going this week with a local discount. If you place an order at a D.C.-area location of the burger joint via the app or website, use the code FINISHEDTHEFIGHT to knock $4 off. Why $4? Because that’s the number of road games the Nats won to clinch the World Series. (Offer expires Sunday.)

Emporiyum’s Eats

Swing by Dock 5 at Union Market this weekend for The Emporiyum Food Market where you’ll enjoy eats, drinks, and gift shopping from more than 90 vendors across 12 states, two U.S. coasts, and two countries. The marketplace launches Friday with a preview party and cocktail battle between D.C. bartenders. Meanwhile, the preview party offers access to all of the vendors before everyone else, free drinks, samples, and interactive activities. Local vendors include Ice Cream Jubilee, Don Ciccio & Figli, The Dough Jar, and Spoken English. (1309 5th St. NE,  Friday 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., $15-$80)

Coffee on steroids

Check out four limited-edition coffee specials at Colada Shop during its second annual Coffee Fest starting Thursday and running through Nov. 17. Expect three coffee cocktails throughout the run of the festival at both of the shop’s locations: The Cuban Irish (Havana-blend coffee, rum, brown sugar, and coconut whip), the Havana Noir (aged rum, espresso, fernet, simple syrup, and mint), and the Carajillo (espresso, Licor 43, and aged rum). There’s also the Churro Café con Leche (brown sugar, cinnamon crema, espresso, and milk). Wine Wednesdays

Georgian restaurant Supra serves up a Wine Wednesday promotion this month beginning today that gives customers a $20 discount for three of the restaurant’s favorite “Save the Village” wines—ones from small-time wine makers outside that country’s main winemaking regions. So the Kereselidze Rachuli Blend, 2018 and Baia’s Krakhuna Blend, 2018 that normally cost $76 are each going for $56. And Dato’s Aladasturi, 2018—typically priced at $78—can be had for $58. Beats & Bubbly

Chill out in the Living Room inside the W Washington DC on Wednesdays for its  new Beats & Bubbles happy hour, featuring light bites (think grilled oysters or figs) and special prices on Veuve Clicquot. You’ll also get a chance to dance to live vinyl beats while sipping to your heart’s content. (515 15th St NW, Wednesdays 5 p.m.-9 p.m., $80 for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot or $16 by the glass, $12 for grilled oysters and $10 for grilled figs)
