A man has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred at Union Station on Monday.
Marlon Bacote of Richmond was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of an unregistered firearm, the Washington Post reported. The twenty-four-year-old is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 25.
D.C. police made the arrest at Union Station on Monday.
Just after 3 p.m., the victim was shot and wounded in the bus depot at Union Station. The man then ran to Amtrak police and said he had been shot. The Amtrak officer called for backup from the Metropolitan Police Department and Capitol Police, according to MPD’s arrest report.
A spokesman with MPD said the man was conscious and breathing and transported to a local hospital.
Police apprehended and arrested Bacote at Union Station for assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
Police recovered at the scene a handgun, two boxes of ammunition, and an extended magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition.
