MOVIE NIGHT: Start your weekend off with an outdoor movie. On Friday, “Rosslyn Cinema” — the free, outdoor movie event hosted by Rosslyn BID — is showing Remember the Titans. LIVE TALK SHOW: It’s last but not least. On Friday, the show You, Me, Them, Everybody is hosting its last live show at Wonderland Ballroom. This weekend, the District mainstay (hosted by Brandon Wetherbee), will be joined by co-host Allison Lane, house band Baby Bry Bry, Haywood Turnipseed Jr., Kevin Tit, Andrew Bucket, and Teen Cobra. HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: This weekend, DowntownDC BID and DCBX are kicking off their Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Franklin Park. The event runs through October 15 and includes live music with free salsa dance lessons and other entertainment. Friday’s lineup includes DJ Emerzive and Izis La Enfermera De La Salsa. LOOK HEAR: Head to Dupont Underground on Friday to experience the “Look Hear Gallery,” an exhibition that explores “the beauty and intimacies of Black culture in Chocolate City while touching on how the city is countering the effects of gentrification.” The show features local Black photographers Shedrick Pelt and Richard Williams. ART WALK: It’s the first Friday of the month, which means it’s time to visit the Brookland Art Walk. NO CARS NO PROBLEM: Open Streets is back! On Saturday, the city is closing off three miles of Georgia Avenue NW to cars — from Barry Place NW to Missouri Avenue NW. Instead of traffic, the street will be lined with local business pop-ups and free walkable (bikeable, scooter-able) activities. (Georgia Avenue NW; 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; FREE)
PORCHES: It’s time for the AdMo Porch Fest. On Saturday, head to Adams Morgan to bask in the sounds of free, live music from your neighbors’ porches. The event kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and will highlight over 60 local bands through 70 performances, across about 20 porches in the area. (Adams Morgan; 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.; FREE)
INDIGENOUS DANCE: On Saturday, Dance Place is hosting Red Sky Performance, a leading company of contemporary Indigenous performance in Canada and worldwide. OKTOBERFEST: ‘Tis the season. This weekend, the Boro in Tysons Corner is hosting its lederhosen-laden festival to celebrate the cooling weather. Festival-goers can expect outdoor games, craft stations, giveaways, and drinks. (Broad Street; 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.; FREE)
ECKINGTON DAY: On Saturday, the Eckington Civic Association is hosting an all-day festival to celebrate the the neighborhood, its families, and its businesses.
