Update:

Around 1:30 p.m. the Naval Support Activity commander lifted the shelter in place for the entire installation. The commander also authorized the opening of some gates to the installation for outbound traffic only.

An installation spokesperson told DCist/WAMU that a bomb was not found.

Original: Naval Support Activity Bethesda—the location of Walter Reed Medical Center—is on lockdown after a bomb threat Wednesday morning, officials say.

The military installation received an anonymous call around 8:45 a.m. stating there was a bomb threat at or near the building on 102 Wood Road.  Security personnel have arrived on the scene and an investigation is ongoing, according to an installation spokesperson. There is no indication of an active shooter and nothing has been uncovered on the scene at this time.

Those in the area are told to go indoors and shelter in place, according to a tweet by Walter Reed. All patient appointments at the medical center have been canceled.

As of noon Wednesday, the lockdown remains in place and K-9 unit is searching through buildings, including parts of the hospital.
