The Smithsonian is slowly getting back to pre-pandemic “normal,” with all but two of its museums returning to daily hours by Memorial Day, the institution announced Tuesday.

Smithsonian facilities have operated on a limited and frequently changing schedule throughout the pandemic. By May 30, most Smithsonian facilities in D.C. will be open seven days a week.

The exceptions are the National Air and Space Museum, closed for renovations through this fall, and the Arts and Industries building, set to remain on a limited schedule while it’s open temporarily through July 6. The National Zoo and the National Museum of Natural History, meanwhile, have been operating on a seven-day-a-week schedule since mid-March.

The Smithsonian ended its indoor mask mandate for museums and the National Zoo on March 11, following updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Smithsonian’s full schedule for the rollout of each museum’s expanded hours is below. If you plan to visit a museum or the National Zoo in the meantime, be sure to check official hours first.
