The vice chair of D.C.’s police union is being investigated for an incident of alleged sexual abuse.
Medgar Webster Sr. has had his police powers revoked while the department investigates his conduct, a spokesperson for the department told DCist/WAMU on Wednesday. A person reported to police that Webster “engaged in unwanted sexual contact with her” at a Whole Foods Market on H Street SE on Saturday afternoon, according to a police report provided by MPD. Police classified the alleged incident as misdemeanor sexual abuse.
“MPD is aware of the allegation against our member and the matter is currently under investigation,” a spokesperson for the department wrote in an email to DCist/WAMU on Wednesday. The officer has been placed on “non-contact status,” meaning they are not permitted to have direct interaction with the public, the spokesperson said.
Webster did not immediately respond to a request for comment from DCist/WAMU.
