You’ve likely gotten accustomed to news about Metro rail running less than optimal. This weekend proves no different.

Expect to wait on the platform for about 15 minutes for most lines, with single-tracking on parts of the Red and Green lines. Metro likes to use the weekend for routine track maintenance.

Another reason for the interruptions: The Yellow Line will be off limits for at least eight months because of projects like a new Potomac Yard Station and Silver Line extension.

Here’s what riders should expect Saturday and Sunday, according to Metro:

Red Line

  • Trains run every 15 minutes due to single tracking between Silver Spring and Forest Glen.

Blue Line

  • Trains run every 15 minutes because of major construction.
  • These stations are closed: Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn St., King St-Old Town, and Braddock Rd. Free shuttle buses will be provided for these stops.

Orange Line

  • Trains run every 15 minutes.

Silver Line

  • Trains run every 15 minutes.

Yellow Line

Green Line

  • Trains run every 8 to 16 minutes until noon because of single tracking between Hyattsville Crossing and College Park. Then every 8 minutes until close of service.
