The Washington Wizards have launched Arabic-language social media platforms, making the team the first franchise in the NBA to create social media specifically for Arabic-speaking audiences.
Fans can follow @WizardsArabic on Twitter and Instagram for game analysis, interviews with players, and behind-the-scenes content. This comes shortly after the team unveiled Spanish-language social media accounts (@vamoswizards), joining only six other NBA teams to provide content in Spanish: the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thurder, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and San Antonio Spurs.
“We are excited to add Arabic-language social platforms to our global portfolio,” said Monumental Sports and Entertainment President and Chief Commercial Officer Jim Van Stone. “We know that Arabic-speaking basketball fans are going to enjoy our content and will feel more connected to the Wizards.”

Both releases are pitched as ways to connect with Arabic and Spanish speaking fans in the D.C. area, while also growing the team’s “international presence.” The Wizards (along with the Mystics and the Capitals) have a partnership with the airline Etihad Airways and both the Mystics and the Wizards have participated in the NBA Europe and Middle East Elite Camp.
