THURSDAY, JUNE 1
LATIN FIRE: The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra hosts “Latin Fire” this weekend, starting with an opening performance Thursday at the Music Center at Strathmore before hosting two nights in Baltimore Saturday and Sunday. See Nashville Pops conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez lead the orchestra, along with Costa Rican trumpeter José Sibaja and Mexican soprano Mónica Abrego in arrangements of Latin favorites such as “Tico-Tico no Fubá” and classical gems rooted in the Spanish-speaking world, including a suite from Bizet’s Carmen. (Music Center at Strathmore; 8 p.m.; $35-90)
ART AND WINE: Celebrate art from Brazil and see different pieces from Brazilian artists at Nepenthe Gallery’s ART+WINE+CHEESE event. There will also be a discussion led by Vera Kramer and Rita Oliveira on Brazilian culture and traditions. (Nepenthe Gallery; 6 p.m.; FREE)
