At Profs & Pints DC: A World Heritage of Tattooing, anthropologist Lars Krutak will talk about the history of tattoos, which dates back to 5000 BCE, and explore what the practice reveals about human desires, fears, cultural values, spirituality, and ancestral ties. CAPITAL FRINGE: When life gives you a Fringe Festival, you buy tickets. This Wednesday, alternative theater festival Capital Fringe kicks off in numerous venues across Georgetown and Dupont Circle. United by the theme When Life Gives You Lemons, this year’s productions promise to be sometimes sweet, sometimes sour, and always original. OUTSIDE TOGETHER: Soak up the sun this Wednesday at Anacostia Park, where REI and Friends of Anacostia Park present Be Outside Together, an afternoon of celebrating community and the outdoors.
