CHEFS FOR EQUALITY: One of the biggest food events in the city, Chefs For Equality, is back for its 10th year. This year’s theme, “Plate of Emergency,” is meant to call attention to the intensified attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. The event will feature over 150 local chefs, bakers, and mixologists, and all proceeds will benefit the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s nationwide educational work for LGBTQ+ equality. HALLOWEEN COMEDY SHOW: Halloween doesn’t have to be all about being scared. Stage Fright is putting on a comedy show to celebrate the night of fright. Come in costume for candy, and an all-night happy hour. (Sudhouse DC; 9:45 p.m.; FREE)
NIGHT OF THE FLICK FINALE: Comet Ping Pong’s Monday night spooky series comes to an end this week with the aptly named “Night of the Comet.” After the screening, there will be a Halloween cover show (Comet Ping Pong; 6 p.m.; FREE)

SOUTHWEST SPOOKTACULAR: Want something to do before trick or treating starts? Lansburgh Park is throwing a Halloween party with music, food, and all sorts of festivities. (Lansburgh Park; 4:30 p.m.; FREE)
ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW: No Halloween would be complete without a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Lincoln Theatre shows the original movie with a live shadow cast, but of course audience participation is encouraged. This year’s event will also feature memorabilia display, costume contest, and appearances by actors from the original movie. (Lincoln Theatre; 8 p.m.; $55+)
TASTE OF R&B: Head to Busboys and Poets in Anacostia for Taste of RnB, an evening of food and live music by Lexi T. The R&B artist will release her new EP, Feelings, and sing other hits and covers of songs by artists like Ari Lennox and Teyanna Taylor. (Busboys and Poets Anacostia; 7 p.m.; $28.50+)

DENDROFEMONOLOGY: Starting Wednesday, the National Mall will have a temporary exhibition. A seemingly inconspicuous tree ring, Tiffany Shlain’s “Dendrofemonology” chronicles feminist history. The installation will be on display until Saturday. (National Mall; through Saturday; FREE)
DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATION: Kick off the day of the dead celebrations with MoCA Arlington. The party will feature music, dance performances, and various food trucks. There will also be an altar created by artist David Amoroso where attendees can place photos of loved ones who have died. (Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington; 5 p.m.; FREE)
FROM HER LENS: The Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum and National Museum of the American Latino are co-sponsoring a discussion on women’s perspectives of race. Moderated by WUSA9 weeknight anchor Lesli Foster, panelists include: playwright and choreographer Larissa Fasthorse, chef Carla Hall, Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies CEO and President Madalene Mielke, and broadcast journalist Maria Elena Salinas. ARTECH-TALK: As a supplement to their Beyond the Light exhibition, Artechouse is hosting a series of talks and conversations with NASA scientists. PASAJES: This week, the National Symphony Orchestra’s concert opens with a new co-commission from Kennedy Center Honoree and Pulitzer Prize winner Tania León. DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FESTIVAL: The National Portrait Gallery’s annual Día De Los Muertos Festival returns Thursday. The event will include live music, dance performances, art projects, as well as a live video artwork. (Kogod Courtyard; 5 p.m.; FREE)
