Council Passes Bills To ‘Ban The Box’ For Housing, Bar Employers From Asking About Credit History
D.C. Council unanimously passed two bills from the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.
It is modeled off D.C.’s 2014 legislation that banned employers from looking at a job applicant’s criminal history before extending an offer.
D.C. has some of the highest complaint rates in the country, which experts believe is correlated to the implementation of the law rather than the District having more violations.
